While we know most people try to take great care of their pets, anything can happen. A death in the family, the loss of work and other factors can cause someone to be looking for extra help for their furry family members. While some resort to dropping their pets off at shelters, there are others who consider animals part of the family and need help pulling through tough times. That's why we want to share these organizations with you.

Thankful Paws is a mobile pet food bank that helps seniors, veterans and homeless persons in Maryland. They also have a homeless hotline for pet assistance. The York County SPCA partnered with ACCESS York and Safe Home of Hanover to provide temporary shelter for pets of domestic abuse victims. The SafePet Program has been expanded to include the American Red Cross to assist displaced families due to catastrophes such as floods and fires.
