Dixie
Older girl looking for a home!
Age:
 Adult

Hi, I'm Dixie -- a sweet older girl who's looking for a home. I came to the rescue from Hurricane Katrina and was later adopted out, but then returned because my human could no longer care for me. I'm looking for a calm home with a family who enjoys short walks and lounging in front of the television. If you're interested in meeting me, please contact the rescue!

Angelina's Story: The Small Cat with Big Courage

Angelina is one resilient cat. She survived being hit by a car and has spent every day since then gathering strength to learn to walk again. To read Angelina’s full story, click the “More Details” link below. While we are happy to care for Angelina and other animals in desperate need, hospice and critical care are very time consuming. We are looking for volunteers who

are willing to spend time with dogs and cats who are in need of this treatment. Anything from a foster home or even 20 minutes of undivided attention to one animal at our rescue can make all the difference in her recovery, or ease her passing over the Rainbow Bridge. If you’re interested in learning more about this life-changing opportunity, contact us at (717) 993-3232. Likewise, if you’re unable to donate your time, consider making a

tax-deductible donation to Animal Rescue, Inc. by clicking copy and pasting this link into your browser: http://tinyurl.com/ybl4hxh

Otis' Story: Sometimes It Really Does Take a Village

A kind passerby noticed a kitten, alone and wounded, and came to our door at Animal Rescue, Inc., looking to us to save his life. A stray, no name, and one of the many but, to us, special.  He had potential, though he could survive only if he was given the medical attention and love he so desperately needed. He was unable to walk as his back legs had been severely broken. Through a thorough examination, it was determined that his injuries had been caused by being struck by a vehicle. To read the rest of this story, click "More Details" below:

Ohio Dairy Farm Animal Cruelty

Animal cruelty has never been more prevalent than in this hidden video created by Mercy For Animals. The video shows farmers at the Conklin Dairy Farm in Plain City, Ohio, merclessly abusing cows and young calves over the period of one month. The video reveals workers at the dairy farm violently punching calves and throwing them onto the ground, using pitchforks and crowbars to stab and beat cows in the face, legs, and stomach, punching and kicking cows in the utters, and kicking cows that are too injured to stand in their faces, necks, stomachs. Through the entire video, the workers talk about how they enjoy abusing the animals.

Their actions are nothing short of sick and twisted, and unfortunately the Conklin farm is not the only place where these unthinkable actions are carried out against defensless animals. We at Animal Rescue, Inc. believe it's important that all people are aware of animal cruelty. This video is extremely emotionally distressful and contains graphic content, but we encourage you to watch and share with your family and friends. To watch the video, click here: http://tinyurl.com/29569oy

Now that you've seen (or have atleast heard) about the video, click here: http://tinyurl.com/38algdh and actress Jamie Lee Curtis' open letter to the farm. Scroll down to the bottom of the letter to sign the petition against the Conklin farm and animal cruelty.
