Laundry Volunteer
Animal Rescue, Inc. is seeking one or several volunteers to assist with the laundry! Our dogs and cats go through a great deal of laundry every day, and it’s hard to keep up sometimes. This volunteer job includes washing, drying, folding and putting away laundry. Hours are any days Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 4PM.
Cat Socializing Volunteer
Make new friends with cats! The cats here love when human friends come spend time with them – they love to sit in your lap and receive extra attention. Some could use a good brushing or need some socialization skills. You’ll be rewarded with lots of purrs! (Hours available to volunteers: Monday-Friday 1PM to 4PM & Saturday 12PM – 4PM)
Dog Mentor
Free exercise, cuddles and kisses! Dog mentoring has an important impact on the dogs at the rescue. Some of our animals may just enjoy a good stroll, or belly rub and others may need more one-on-one time and training. Some may need a quiet human friend to show them people can be gentle and loving. Volunteer duties include: walking, brushing, and spending quality time with our canine residents. Volunteers must be 18 years old and commit to coming to the rescue at least once a week. (Available Volunteer Hours: Monday-Friday 12-4pm).
Events & Fundraising Volunteer
Animal Rescue, Inc. often gets invited to community events to share information about our organization and responsible pet care. Help spread the word by helping staff a booth at a local event or adopt-a-thon. Volunteering may include transporting animals and/or materials and being comfortable talking to the public. Bubbly, outgoing personality a plus! (Hours available to volunteers: Typically weekends and some evenings)
Transportation Volunteer
We are in need of volunteers to transport sick animals as needed to veterinarian’s offices in Pennsylvania and Maryland. (Hours available to volunteers: as needed)
Adoption Processing Volunteer
Adoptions are the heartbeat of our Rescue. Come help animals fine their forever homes by assisting in processing incoming applications by conducting phone interviews with references, landlords and veterinarians, reviewing judiciary and housing searches and more. (Hours available to volunteers: Flexible, at home and as needed)
Home Visit Volunteer
Help animals find their forever homes by becoming a home visit volunteer! We’ll train you to meet with potential adopters in their homes to go over the ins and outs of pet care, inspect the home and backyard for potential issues and more. We cannot find dogs their forever homes without your help! (Hours available to volunteers: Flexible, typically evenings and/or weekends.)
Clinic Volunteer
Have some medical experience? Put it to good use to help the animals! We are looking for assistants to help in our clinic, most often working side-by-side with our veterinarians and technicians at our feline spay/neuter clinics. (Hours available to volunteers: one night each week from 5 pm – ? [usually late hours]). We also need individuals to help check in/out customers during clinic. Check in is from 2:45 pm to 6 pm. Duties include marking carriers, filling out rabies certificates and surgical collars and verifying client information. Check out is from 9 pm to 10 pm and includes returning cats to the clients and reviewing post-operation instructions.
Office Assistant Volunteer
Our office functions with the help of volunteers! We need volunteers to take and make phone calls, clean the office in the morning, conduct filing, assist visitors, lead tours, write letters and more. (Hours available to volunteers: Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5 pm)
Maintenance Volunteer
As an old farm, we’re always in need of maintenance, upkeep and repairs. Come help paint, mow, do small odds and ends and more. (Hours available to volunteers: Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5 pm)
Organizational Specialist Volunteer
Love to keep things organized? We could use a few handy volunteers to conduct upkeep on some of our storage areas. On a smaller scale, we can always use volunteers to write thank you letters, organize coupons, sweep outside areas, and consolidate animal and medical supplies. It’s a volunteer experience that makes you feel like you’ve accomplished something to help animals! (Hours available to volunteers: Monday to Saturday 9 am to 5 pm)
